It's a new name, but nothing has changed besides that. As many of you already know, Germantown Cycles and Avalon Cycles (located in Elkridge, MD) are sister companies. In an effort to unify our store brands, and create a more holistic entity that better serves the needs of cycling enthusiasts, we have decided to use the name Avalon Cycles to represent both shops. The name Avalon Cycles is more fitting for our shops. Avalon means "an earthly paradise." Collectively, this is how cyclists feel about the sport, its destination locations, and the store fronts that service their needs.

And of course, Avalon is also the name of the trail loop at Patapsco State Park. But it's important to point out that this name also represents each rider's personal Avalon - be it a long stretch of country road, Shaffer Park, Gambrill State Park, Fredrick Water Shed or anywhere else in the world.
